Participants MUST REGISTER and attend ONE session of PHASE I and ONE session of PHASE II. There are separate registrations for the dates in each phase.

Phase II Objectives (14 hr training 8:30am-4:30pm via Zoom)
Build upon previous MI training
- Enhance current MI utilization skill level
- Move from Beginning/Progressive skill level toward MI Proficiency skill level
- Gain continued insight on how to use MI with continued resistance to change
- Motivate clients through the stage of change by using stage specific techniques
- tools to motivate clients/families in focusing on goals and goal planning
CEU: 14 CEUs licensed/provisional therapists
About the Speaker: After 12 years working as a probation officer and statewide trainer inspiring not only her clients toward positive behavior change, but also training her colleagues, Brenda formed her own company, Motivate 2 Communicate, LLC in 2012 to pursue her passion of inspiring client long-term behavior change. Her company offers tailored certified trainings and curriculum development in behavior change, motivational interviewing, evidence-based practices, trauma informed care, risk/needs assessments, case planning, personality assessments, and leadership enhancement. She is a highly sought trainer and guest speaker and contracts with several private and government agencies nationwide. Brenda is not only a business owner, but also a fulltime Criminal Justice faculty member and online lead at Metro Community College, an adjunct instructor with UNO’s Criminal Justice Department and Bellevue University’s Continuing Education Department. Brenda holds over a dozen nationally recognized training certifications, has authored 4 prison inmate behavior change curriculums and is member of the highly esteemed international network of Motivational Interviewing trainers, MINT. She has her undergrad degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice and her Masters degree in Health Communication and Non-profit Management from Johns Hopkins University. In her free time, Brenda enjoys volunteering with CASA, Women’s Fund of Omaha and as a board member of the Heartland Juvenile Services Association.
It is our goal to provide trainings as scheduled. If a training is cancelled for any reason the region will attempt to email registered participants as well as post the change on the trainings page of the region website.
The region is committed to providing quality training experiences. When a registered participant does not attend it often prevents another participant from having the opportunity. Please call us at 712-328- 5645 by 12:00 pm the day prior to the training if needed to cancel a registration. If the training is on a Monday please contact us by 12 pm on Friday. If the aforementioned notice is not given you will be charged a minimum of $25.00 (this includes trainings with no registration fee).
